Student Model United Nations:
We have a wonderful new opportunity for our students. In support of our new E.A.G.L.E Academy mission statement, we are working towards establishing an Emory Model United Nations. This group of students will work to uphold the goals of the UN in our community. These goals are:
- to keep peace in our school and community
- to help students get along
- To improve living conditions for people in our community
- and to make the world a better place.
There will be only two meetings this year, but we are trying to get it started now, so that it will be up and running next school year. We are asking that teachers select 1- 2 students by class vote, teacher choice or volunteer. If you are really feeling inspired, you can have students write a short essay and select from there. Each student will represent a country in our Model UN and will borrow an “official” vest, flag and country’s plaque. They will learn about parliamentary procedures, global leadership attributes and approve several UN proposals for our school and community. Our first meeting will be held on Monday April 29, 2019. The meeting will last approximately 2 hours, so students will be out of the classroom for an extended period of time. Below are several links to introduce the idea of the United Nations.

Transportation Safety Plan:
The document linked below contains the Transportation Safety Plan. You may wish to read the document to learn more. An important details for those of you who ride school buses on field trips….After exiting the bus (at your destination/return to school) teachers must walk the bus to look for students just like bus driver does. This is mandated by edcode to ensure that students are not left in the bus.
