Staff Professional Development:
This week, we meet as a staff in room 23 at 1:40. Jennifer Oliveira and Jennifer Smith will join us. The bulk of our meeting will be dedicated to an update regarding the Emory remodel timeline including our new classroom furniture.
Classroom Hosts for Math Labsite and Upcoming Teachers College Visits:
We will need classroom hosts for our upcoming math labsite and TC visit. Please work with your grade level team and let me know who would like to host which visits. For TC, I will need a host from each grade level and for Math Labsite a host from K/1, 2/3 and 4/5.

Administrative Intern Guest- Monday February 11
A colleague asked if I would host an administrative intern. Lindsey Conley will shadow me throughout my day on Monday, February 11th. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Fountas and Pinnell-February 19:
The deadline to have the data entered is February 19th.
Thank you for all your efforts to assess our students! Remember to clear your filters, search for “Fountas” and look for the 2018-19 2nd administration. Here’s the GIANT assessment document to answer your additional questions about other assessment dates, A/B book clarification, and other exciting information.
Entering F and P data in Illuminate in February:
- 2018-2019 Fountas and Pinnell 2nd administration
- Enter students’ both INDEPENDENT and INSTRUCTIONAL levels in Illuminate
- For levels C and above enter all scores: instructional level, instructional accuracy, instructional fluency and instructional comprehension scores, instructional genre, and independent level.
Updates from Learning and Innovation:
PERFORMANCE TASKS/CAASPP INTERIM ASSESSMENTS–
TK-2 should use the SBUSD District Performance Tasks which can be found in Illuminate. 3-6th grade may use either the CAASPP Interim Assessments OR the SBUSD District Performance Tasks. Please complete ALL performance task experiences before Spring Break.

CAASPP LABELS– Labels with student SSID and other testing information can be found in Illuminate in a report named “CAASPP Labels” (creative, I know…). When you open the report, click on “Labels” on the tool bar in the grey banner then click “Download”. You can print directly to label sheets or print to regular paper and adhere them to an index card. THESE ARE SECURE TESTING MATERIALS, and should be locked up nightly.
Join your colleagues and Literacy TOSAs for a series of 3 professional development sessions addressing the needs of your striving readers. We will focus on readers workshop, taking teachers through the process of planning and scheduling small group instruction that supports the needs of students reading significantly below grade level. Instructional methods and resources will be shared.
