2018!! Wow!! Happy New Year. Welcome back!! I hope you return relaxed, refreshed and ready for an amazing second half to our school year.

Staff PD:

We DO NOT meet as a staff. This is a PLC Wednesday. It might be a good time to check in with your grade level team about your R/W calendars and plan forward, review or calibrate for the F&P assessment administration, plan for the Interim Assessment Block administration. The best part about our jobs is that there is always good work to be done.

Classroom Library Book Order- due Feb 7:

Once again the District has provided money to support the growth of classroom libraries. Some of you need books more desperately than others. Feel free to decline the resource if you feel like your library is sufficient. Each grade level has a budget of $750. By Feb 7, please email me details about your requested books. You may identify shelves of books which you would like from the Heinemann (link below), you may decline the books, or you may request specific types of books (example-non-fiction levels k-l, or fiction level r-t fantasy etc).

Conference Room #1 at Ed Center
Topic: Setting students up for ST Math (getting them started & logged in)

Conference Room #2 at Ed Center
Topic: ST Math Overview & Reports

Teachers will need to bring their laptops.

There is no set presentation. Teachers can stop by within the above time frame & we will happily answer any ST Math questions on the topic listed above.

ST Math:

In the recent reports you received from Mind Research, you’ll notice the amount of time on task per grade level. The research shows students who use ST Math consistently and adhere to the recommended minutes gain a greater understanding of conceptual concepts. For K-1 students the recommended time is 60 minutes per week and for 2-8th grade students 90 minutes per week, all in no less than 20 minute increments. Additionally, unless suggested by the data within ST Math, students will use their grade level content, rather than a lower grade level, including students on IEPs.

Leveled Library Bins:

Teresa finished organizing the Below Level Classroom Libraries.  They are by grade level against the East wall in Room 23.  A few containers had to go on the shelf when you enter the classroom because she ran out of room.

Read aloud templates:

Below is a link to read aloud templates for the ELD libraries that were ordered last year for the Systematic ELD Units.  Lisa Celaya read all the books for 3rd – 6th grade in Intermediate and Early Advanced/Advanced and wrote read aloud templates for most of the books. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GzH_NAEV9nUDwPNiwOkCrgAuR9BAvqFL
