District Writing Day:
Tuesday March 7th is the next District Writing Day. Here are a few reminders:
District Writing Day- Assessment Specifics and Updat
- All students will respond to a Narrative prompt. Prompts were placed in your boxes Thursday.
- Students will be given (no more than) 45 minutes to respond.
- Writing response must be done with paper and pencil
- Students will need to have access to as many sheets of paper as they would like.
- They can start with one sheet, and if they need additional, they may take from a pile.
- Please do not give them a predetermined amount (ex. 5 pages stapled together) as this may overwhelm some students.
Kinder-2nd
- Students will use provided paper with lines and a space for drawing.
3rd -6th
- Students will use regular lined paper.
Independent Reading Club Recommendations:
Emory’s Independent School Reading Club will meet Monday-Friday (not on minimum days) 2:35-3:00 in room 6. The criteria for students is as follows:
- Low reading engagement at home
- Students reading below grade level
- Fountas and Pinnell reading levels E and above
- Only by teacher recommendation

Patience:
We start our new character trait this week which is Patience and the award assembly will be on April 20th. The video is available on the connect with kids website (http://sbusd.connectwithkids.com/). The video can be reached by going to Student Resources-> Elementary->Character/Life Skills. Lesson plans to use/modify are right below the video and the K-2 lesson plans are available on the previous page. We will stay on the same character trait for March and April because of Spring Break.

Innovation Fair Wednesday, April 12th will be Emory’s first ever Family Innovation Fair. Details coming soon.
