Wow, another school year is nearing the end. This will be the last weekly update of the 2013-14 school year. Thank you for your dedication and hard work to Emory’s students and community!
Please see Chris’ email and/or Melinda’s flipchart for our topic review of “Assembly Expectations” for PBS on Monday.
Golden Eagle Assemblies:
This week our assemblies will begin at 8:30 and the second one will follow at 9:15a.m. For those grades that will be attending the 8:30 assemblies, please arrive at 8:25a.m. so we can begin on time.
Outstanding and Perfect Attendance Celebration:
This will take place on Monday at 1:00p.m. in the cafeteria. You have been given invitations to hand out to those students who have earned it. Remember, this year we did not give awards to those students who were arrived tardy (30 minutes or more) or left early 3 or more times in the year. This was stated in our parent handbook.
I will do blue slip drawings on Tuesday during lunch. Please send your blue slips with a student on that day.
We will have a brief staff meeting this Wednesday, June 4th in Rm. 4. You do not need to bring anything.
Barb Montfort will be visiting this week to assess our next steps for writing support. She is very eager to help us continue with writing instruction next year and wants to know how she can support each of you so she may even ask what you would like help with next year when she visits your classroom. Please be honest with Barb and Chris as this will only help us determine next steps.
6th grade activities:
Our 6th grade softball game against staff will now take place on Tuesday at 1:05p.m. We know that we will be missing some of our “ringers” who will be on a field trip so luckily, our new friends from NTCS will be there to help out. Please remember to bring your mitts/gloves and tennis shoes and be ready to show the 6th graders who’s boss!
6th grade Fun n Games will take place on Thursday. Our NTCS friends will also be in attendance to help us with this competition.
Mileidee just received news late last week that she will be the new Academic Coach at Pence School. I think you would all agree that the students and staff at Pence are lucky to have her!
We will have 4 prep days again next year prior to the first day of school which is July 28th. I will email and/or mail you something over the summer with a more detailed agenda but plan on having the first prep day, July 22nd entirely dedicated to you prepping and setting up your room. Our PD day will be Wednesday, July 23rd and we will have rotating grade level planning meetings over the course of July 24th and 25th, similar to last year. All in all, you will have more than 2 full days to prep and plan on your own and with your team.
Question of the Week:
What exciting plans do you have for this summer?
Quote of the Week:
